TOPIC: water, Water, and more WATER

water, Water, and more WATER 14 years 5 months ago #11814

So far this July, we have received more rain than any previous July on record. Obviously, this causes problems with basements, roads, lawns, etc. Ths rain has also created havoc with the water levels on our rivers. Here's a picture of someone's jon boat complete with the boatlift still attached. The water level went up about 5 feet over normal. The boat & lift floated about three miles downstream and pinned up against a dam. The boat is 17-18 feet long so you can get some idea of the drop over the dam.
Somehow the boat and lift were rescued and are back in their original spot. I'm guessing that this time its anchored better than before.

Well I"m out in Nevada and we are still in a drought. The lake close to me had only got up to a little over half full and by the end of Aug will be down so far you wont be able to launch a boat. We did have a better winter then the lase few years but not good enough.
Here is what the boat ramp looked like last Aug
