TOPIC: Speedliner Contessa?

Speedliner Contessa? 2 years 10 months ago #144589

I bought this Speedliner Contessa M-414 last year from an estate auction. It was last registered in 1987 and it must have in the garage most of its life. It's either a 57 or 58 as Sea Jay says it was purchased by the boat dealer in Jan 1958. The boat is completely original with a Johnson Super Sea Horse. Its a beautiful boat but I'm afraid its too nice for me, so I bought a 1958 Crestliner Voyager. I now want to sell the Speedliner but have no idea on value or where to advertise. Any suggestions? Thanks. Pete

The engine looks to be 1958. Wait for others to chime in regarding expected value and where best to list. Once you feel you have set the right price for you, you can start by listing it on this site under the Glassified Adds. Others can advice other places to list. If it is towable, you could pull it to Minocqua near end of June for their boat and register to show it with a for sale sign on it. You would be right in the heart of the the Lakeland area where people love old wooden boats. Looks like a nice original. Here is a link to that show. acbs.org/events/minocqua-antique-classic-boat-show/

How about starting by telling us what you paid for it...?

I was going to suggest a price of $3,500 but since you have $3,800 into it, try $4,200 and let someone talk you down to the point where you break even. I really don't think it will bring much more than that but you never know.
