With 35hp Lark. Engine looks and sounds like new. Original warranty tag, manual controls manual, trailer purchase order w warranty from sears. Still sorting out all the stuff that came with the boat to see what is original paperwork. Confused about the funky rollover bar on the back. Seller said he thought it was used for ski rope attachment??
Also mounted in the boat is a brass cylinder that looks somewhat like a fire extinguisher? Need to investigate further. Thoughts and comments welcome and appreciated.

Great looking classic. Looks like it was well taken care of over the years. Congrats.

Could you post some photos of the inside. Under the hull and the stringers.

Many of the 50s wood Elgins were built by Yellow Jacket Boats and some were built under their name however subbed out to other shops.

They all got the cold molded hull from the same maker, just the work was done outside the Yellow Jacket Plant

Is the brass thing you talking about look the same as the one in my boat (see lower left side of photo)

That is a fire extinguisher....no longer approved for use, however great for looks

You will need a new one to be legal on the water

Yes, it looks just like that. Is it a type of fire extinguisher?

That is an old pump type fire extinguisher.......no longer approved for use, however great for looks......And if remember right if you use it the gases that it gives off when the liquid hits the fire can be very harmful to you

You will need a new one to be legal on the water

My new type is under the door on the box. Makes me legal and out of site

I did indeed and I appreciate you talking me out of the one in MI. This one is far from perfect but should be fun to work on and I will no doubt learn a lot...I have to finish the 64 Starcraft 1st though.

Glad I could help. Just for the record, I wasn't trying to talk you out of it per se but just wanted you to be aware of the potential problem areas and what I could just see from the pics. ;) So glad this one worked out for you. It's always much easier when you can assess the boat in person. She's going to be a great project for you. Again congrats.
