New axle under a 20' trailer. Bought one with a curve. Brothers project...he does not do web.....
Does the curve go up or down?
The wheels would either toe in or out ( or camber) depending.
He has to weld the spring brackets on and could set it up ether way.
Would the curve go forward or back? Would that be toe or camber?
What is the advantage to curved axles?
Thanks,
Paul in NH

Lots of axles have curves in them, not unusual. The idea is the curve goes up so when there's a load on the trailer, the camber is fine. I have one under an old travel trailer. I know that because I flipped it, and had the same questions you do now. Heck, I thought it was bent from overloading! Our new travel trailer and the boat trailer I haul our Power Cat on both have 4 dropped axles.

On the other hand, straight axles can still be bought. I'm no engineer!
