I am trying to come to an agreement to purchase this TeeNee. The owner is selling the trailer, boat and defunct motor for $500.00

I went to see the trailer yesterday and have no interest in the boat or motor and will probably dump them both if I cannot just buy the trailer alone. The trailer is in decent shape for it's age, however the teardrop fenders have a few gashes and tears in the metal near the leading and trailing edges of the tires. Can this be repaired through welding, grinding and refinishing? I am guessing so.

Secondly, I jotted down the serial # from the trailer. Can any of you trailer experts give me an idea of the year based on the serial number? It is: 0840 2492. Made by Canasco Products Ltd. in Toronto.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The boat looks to be a Leavens, made in Toronto, Canada.

It is indeed. The Victor model. The motor is practically pulling the rotten transom right off the boat! I think his ad said "Needs minor repairs". :woohoo:

Yes the fenders can easily be fixed.
The 8 in the serial # is actually a B. You have an OB40 model
The last digits do not seem to indicate a model year, none of mine do.
I'd guess it is mid fifties to 59. In 60 the model numbers changed & the hidden winch was no longer an option.
Another clue would be the serial plate. My 58 & earlier ones have an oval aluminum plate. 59 has a rectangular foil sticker

Thanks for the info Bill. I am still hoping to get this trailer. I can't get the owner to respond since we agreed on a price a few weeks ago. I know he has not sold it yet, so I am still hopefull I can grab it.

I need some help on a TeeNee also. I can't seem to find a serial or VIN anywhere. Any help?

I just found mine the other day when I was looking at the bottom of the CC boat hull. It is a round aluminum plate located on the back right side of the steel cross member above the axle.

Seen here:

Notice the last year that the trailer was registered by the plate: 1988.

Based on this oval sticker on the winch tower(as pointed out earlier in this thread), I guess that this is pre-1959 model which is now a good period match for my 57 Custom Craft. Gonna get it sandblasted and fixed up after I finish the boat.

Gotta love these fenders:

By the way... I think my trailer may have been yellow as well but I also see some blue under the white on the fenders.

Thanx. I do know the yellow was OEM. Having a tough time deciding whether to go original color or powdercoat to match the boat. You are right; the fender and winch cover make the whole thing.

I finally was able to bring her home last evening. She is rough - but a diamond in the rough.

The only paperwork I have is the original DMV registration paper which indicates it is a 1960 trailer. Was this model made in 1960? I was under the impression it was more of a mid fifties model. Does anyone know if this style was still produced in 1960.

Here is a scan from the 59 & 60 catalogs.
As previously mentioned, the model numbers changed in 60 to reflect weights. The OB40 became OB900
I'd guess yours is a 59 that was sold & registered in 60

I am slowly progressing on dismantling and restoring my Tee Nee. The fenders were severely abused, torn, and rusted. Here is the original as when purchased...

I don't think this add is in the library. I notice that there seems to be an indentation where your step pad bolts to your fenders. Mine does not have that. Maybe that could be used to date a trailer. Mine is a 59.
