TOPIC: Help with Identification?

Help with Identification? 12 years 7 months ago #60928

Bought my first boat last weekend and am having trouble figuring out brand/model. It was sold to me as a 68 Glastron V-156 but after some looking, I definitely don't think it is a Glastron.

Problem is I can't figure out what it is. There is a 9 digit number stamped into the transom where I think the HIN should be (upper starboard corner). There is also a 5 digit number stamped into the metal on top of the transom.

Any thoughts on what I've got here?

In 1968 there was no required Hull Identification Numbers (12 digit HIN) but some builders did put numbers on their boats. Obvious question: What is the number?

Have you looked here: Identifying Glastrons at a glance. www.classicglastron.com/gl-identifying2.html

As an addendum to the above: It could be Glastron related. Hammond, Carlsons, Scimitars and a few others were all made by the same people that designed and built Glastrons. Sometimes they are mistakenly identified as a Glastron. The above link is just one page on the Classic Glastron site. There are pages devoted to all the other related makes. see www.classicglastron.com/

The HIN on this boat is only 9 digits so technically not a HIN?
ZA-4-05-9-2-77

I came across a couple of other boats for sale today that look very similar. It is advertised as an Anchor Tri-hull. Any info on this brand?

Also talked to the son of the original owner who says his dad bought it around 1979 and it was a couple of years old at the time. With the fact that the outboard is a 1977 Evinrude, I suspect I have a 1977 era boat as well; not a 1968.

Any helping confirming this would be appreciated.
