Does anybody know if you need to unhook a wire or anything when running a compression check on a 115ESL73M Johnson? Seems like I remember something about unhooking a wire to prevent burning up something electronic, but I may be confusing this with running a motor without the wiring harness hooked up????? Getting old and feeble minded sucks, I mean stinks, sorry!

The JEGO site seems to be malfunctioning.

I normaly leave the ign switch off and use a hand held bump start switch, most auto zone-napa-etc stores carry them, also I allways remove all spark plugs. this eleminates excess drag on the starter and any possible cross comtamination from other cyls bleeding through a burnt headgasket.

run a jumper to ground from the black / yellow stripe wire at the powerpack. That would be the same as having the ignition turned OFF.
