They are heavy but great riding boats. If I had the capital free right now I would bid on that one. Thats actually the next boat I want. Same hull as the Tahiti's of similar length.

Anyone interested in a 70 GW invader...lol

I have been over on Sidewinder forum page looking at some thh boats over there too, these are very sharp looking and this one looks to very complete...with exception on needing an interior fab'd up...or i guess one could do it to his liking..the trailer I was told was a bsic boat trailer, not jetski one, due to the length...

you could put a couple back to back seats in it and be in the water the same day it looked. The motor I got for my gw came off a sidewinder, guy offered me the boat and trailer for $100 more but no title's and a rotten transom made me think twice, its actually still forsale though he put a 60hp merc on it and wants $600 now but, it has a good windshield and the original seats in good condition.

if you end up picking it up, I have a bigger trailer I would trade you for that one... Its actually got my old Tahiti Jetboat sitting on it so its setup for the same hull. I need a better small trailer for teh gw.

A 1977 Sidewinder was made by Thompson Boat Co. at Peshtigo, WI. Thompson purchased assets of Sidewinder in 1974 from the receiver. Sidewinder had been foreclosed. Everything was moved to Peshtigo and the line added to Thompson.

This auction is from the Rawhide Boys Ranch near New London, WI. This is Bart Starr's (Green bay Packers) charity that gets donated boats and autos etc..., has troubled youth do some fixing up and then sell em' to fund their programs. It's a good cause. They have a hundred acres of boats and stuff.

I've been there a few times.

16ss baja is the same as a 16ss sidewinder. Was just a matter of who owned the molds at the time. When Sidewinder went into receivership, a few different companies made them. Something pretty neat about these boats, they are making brand new ones... Just shows how good the hull realy is.

I dont think the sidewinder is the ss version... The SS was a narrow hull and thats a wide body. Im prolly wrong though. Either way, they are both nice projects.

Those fiberglass seat frames tell me it may be an early '70's model. 'Winders 16' and longer after 1975 had front buckets and a wraparound rear seat.

was this 4 sale up around the chicago area? found one a mnth ago sounds like the same one minus motor which was a 60hp but was selling it....no titles....some story about getting it from a gguy who was owed money...no money he got the boat...and he then purchased.

I have an '81 Baja 15ss and it is NOT the same hull as a Sidewinder. But Tahitis, Taylors, Wreights, and at least a few others are.

Lil trivia for you: A guy named Schuster and Gil Gaska borrowed a new Glastron hull, splashed a mold off it, made a few changes. And the result became Sidewinder, etc.
