TOPIC: Glastron CV-16 SS Steering

Glastron CV-16 SS Steering 13 years 8 months ago #28414

Am coming to the end of a project to repair/restore a really nice '72 CV-16 SS. Have ripped out and replaced the rotten floor, glassed it all in, removed, rebuilt and replaced the AQ130 and am about to recarpet. In fiddling around, I find that the steering won't turn. Removed both ends of the cable system, and everything's free but apparently the cable is stuck although I'm confident that it worked fine when I pulled it in the garage nearly two years ago. This is a lake boat that's never seen salt water and has always been garaged. Any suggestions on how to repair the steering or where to source a replacement? I'd really appreciate any help.

I take it that you have a push pull cable, If its stuck its probly done... though I have seen many hang it on a wall and make a funnel of sorts and tape it to the top end and poor some lite oil in it and wait, A good replacement should be in the 125$ range and a better in the 140$ and up range. try your local marine store or good ol Ebay.
