TOPIC: Charging system

New to forum, Just aquired, a 1962 Larson All-American 172 17ft. with IO AQ80 sat for two years. superizing it still runs good, found the charging system does not work, generator in of the one wire setup, how do I test it or fix it,If anyone could help, could not find any manuals on the Volvo Penta moters of this small engine,

There wasn't any one wire alternator's in the early 60's that I am aware of. Is it possible that it is a Delcotron Alt? If it is, it has probably loss its magnetic energy. Some times you can spin them with a drill motor real fast and get them to kick in again.

There is usually a excite wire connection some where on the alt. that you can energize and get it to kick in also.

Send us a picture of the alternator, and where the wires are connected. I might be able to figure it out if I can see what kind of alt. it is, and where the wires are connected.
