I do a LOT of varnishing and have tried just about every brush out there, including those super-expensive ones. My absolute best results have been with Captain's varnish and Wooster Pro nylon/polyester brushes. Naturally, they're just as good with marine paint. They can be bought in lots of three on Ebay at about 60% of what it will cost you in a retail store.
