TOPIC: 1958 60 HP SCOTT IGNITION COIL

1958 60 HP SCOTT IGNITION COIL 3 years 7 months ago #144194

I HAVE A 60 HP SCOTT WITH THE BATTERY AND GENERATOR IGNITION SYSTEM, BUT WITH ONE BAD COIL. THE ODDS OF FINDING A REPLACEMENT COIL LOOK PRETTY GRIM SO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MIGHT BE INVOLVED IN REPLACING THE BAD COIL WITH ONE MADE FOR A DIFFERENT HORSEPOWER ENGINE. I SEE COILS AVAILABLE FOR 16, 22, AND 33 HP SCOTTS THAT I COULD MAKE FIT, BUT I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT ELECTRONICS TO KNOW IF IT WILL WORK. I DON'T WANT TO BE BURNING UP POINTS OR WORSE YET, BURNING UP THE GOOD COILS I HAVE. CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF IT IS POSSIBLE TO REPLACE MY BAD COIL WITH ONE OF THE COILS AVAILABLE WITHOUT DOING DAMAGE TO WHAT I HAVE NOW.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP I CAN GET.
