TOPIC: i got my 4th bear

I went bear hunting this bear season,and shot a bear,that makes 4 for me,it should have made 6 but I missed 2 over the last 40 years of hunting.
it was hard on me with my health.
in Pennsylvania,we don't use dogs or bait,its all what is called fair chase.
it is smaller than my other bear,but it is a bear.
there are a lot of hunters that never even saw a bear during our 3 day seasons.
I guess im pretty lucky.

thanks ron,i got an 8 point buck yesterday,now that I have a bear and buck,all I need now is a turkey this spring to have gotten the "big three",which is Pennsylvania's 3 big game animals in one season.
I did it one other time.
they used to give out belt buckles for it,but quit doing it the year I got a bear,a buck and both fall and spring turkeys.

jim,now that's funny,but I bet you don't get many dates saying that,lol.

Way to go, John! I'm one of those guys who went bear hunting (once) and never saw a thing. I also went moose hunting in Maine and saw a gigantic...pile of steaming moose poop. That's all. I used to Live in PA and then DE. Each year we hunted for deer in DE, MD, PA and NY. I've gotten my share over the years but never anything big. My son shot a monster 10-pointer in NY, perfectly symetrical that scored somewhere around 180 B&C...I got a fork horn. I don't hunt anymore. My son lives 700 miles away and is always too busy. These days, I get my meat at the super market. It's a sure thing, cheaper and I don't get cold. I still have a cabinet full of hunting rifles. Maybe I should take a few minutes and wipe the dust out of the barrels.

Nice going John, I've not seen nothing but 9 doe this year. No hunters out.

thanks Robert,and yeah,it was too warm the 1st day of buck,no one was moving to move the deer.
Saturday should be better,its colder with snow,hunters will move them,then.
my buck was moving on its own.

About 30 years ago, I was driving up route 202 toward Valley Forge and there was a guy in the other lane driving south in a screaming yellow VW bug with a huge black bear splayed out on the roof. All four legs were tied to the four corners of the car...covered the whole roof! Damnedest thing I ever saw.
