OK so I have a 1992 VW Cabriolet that had a glue in winsheild.. they dont make them any more.. Long story short I fixed the rust on the frame broke the original winsheild acidentaly.. Got a new on and a press in or Strin pull in type gasket.. I can get the bottom and sides in but once I get around to the top its too high in the frame.. "dry fitting" it in the frame it looks perfect.. Has anyone done something like this before?

Thanks for any input..

Jesse

Is it a rubber gasket? If so try soaking it in hot water a few minutes and sometimes liquid soap is a great help.

Good advise Robert, and get the garage as warm as you can for a while before you start putting it in. (Helps keep the weatherstrip pliable longer.) My Dad and I were lucky, we had a friend who worked at the local Ford body shop who would come over and help put them in. We bought a used windshield for my first car and promptly broke it trying to put it in ourselves. With the experienced guy helping it was done in 30 minutes.

(That was before the "glue-in" days, I didn't know you could even get a conversion kit like that!?) May not hurt to ask around Jesse, there may be somebody in your area willing to do the same?
