I konked out about 8:30PM Cal, but my wife came and woke me up at midnight with a kiss. Best way to start the new year IMO!

That's OK Cal, it was midnight somewhere when you clocked out. Australia maybe? I made it to midnight but I didn't roll out until 10am this morning, with my usual New Year's Day comment, "ugh, never again..."

Made it to 0100 in the morning. Had to fire off my black powder cannon at midnight. Do it every 4th of July and New Years. Small 50cal I made when I worked in a machine shop.

Bob, I didn't know there was anything small about a 50 Cal. Most of the neighbors set off fireworks, didn't even hear those last night. I must have zoned out.

Oh you'd know when this went off, it sounds like a stick of dynamite! It's about 8" long and about 2 /2" in diameter with a 50cal bore. It's a little overkill in diameter but I have a tendancy to do that with most of the stuff I design. ;) It's a replica of a naval 45 pound cannon, not really to scale though.

Robert, back in the '40's I didn't know what new years eve was.
In the '50's I was seeking other interests on that night.
In the '60's it was party all night long.
In the '70's it was sorta party but not all night.
In the '80's it was worrying what my daughter and son's were doing at midnight.
In the '90's there began a problem of keeping awake but the admiral managed to do a fine job.
In the '00's I don't know what all the hubbub is all about.
