TOPIC: Dorsett Catalina I/O

Dorsett Catalina I/O 7 years 9 months ago #130193

Does anyone know if or when Dorsett started putting inboard/outdrives in Catalina's? Someone I know said he restored one and it had a covered engine compartment with twin access doors. I would love to see some photos of such if anyone owns one of these factory made boats. I have a late 1970's Marlin that looks like a Catalina clone and it has an I/O but uses a dog house to cover the engine. Indecently, the Marlin has a slightly different lower hull then the Catalina and so if they did indeed buy the molds from Dorsett, they either modified the lower half or re-designed a new one.
