TOPIC: MFG emblem for 1957 MFG Erie

MFG emblem for 1957 MFG Erie 8 years 2 weeks ago #128451

Trying to research if a 1957 MFG Erie should have any logos/emblems on it anywhere. Haven't seen any pics and not finding anything on ebay or anywhere. I've seen some 1960s' MFG with "MFG" on the right rear side/stern area.

Did they ever have any specific flags or pennants displayed on the bow?...

Thanks all-

Here is a link to an old eBay listing. They were placed on each side of the hull near the stern, A photo is attached with my Niagara docked next to a 1958 MFG with the factory decal. The seller can probably make up new ones if contacted:

As for flags, pennants (burgees), there used to be an outfit that made them, but they disappeared a while back. Other burgee makers could do it if supplied art work. They did not come from the factory - only added by owners later. The blue one I have is also shown in the picture on a chrome staff that came with my boat when I bought it. I got the attached (only in blue) from that maker now out of business.

Great leads! Thanks. I reached out to the previous ebay seller for the sticker, also to a flag seller.

I'm currently restoring a 1959 MFG Celeron 15' runabout. Mine has metal emblem plates located on the rear quarters as shown in the photos. Not sure what was on a 1957. Hope this helps.

MFG only used the oval stickers from 1955-1960. The metal MFG emblems with the black shark were used from 1961-1963.

Then I guess one of the prior owners made an effort to procure and install these metal emblems on my 1959. I have seen the oval decal; I prefer the metal one.

Yes, the metal ones are nicer.

MFG later switched to one that looks like the metal ones, but instead made of plastic. The plastic ones were used from 1964-1970. For 1971-1980, they went with various stickers, with some plastic emblems in the 1980 models, the last year "real" MFG boats made by MFG in Union, City, PA. Sold the molds and licensed the MFG name to Quality Boats in late 1980 and were made through 1983.
