Just picked up MFG Westfield. Any idea on the year? Can't wait to get out on the water. Transom appears to be in good shape. Need to get a nice canopy for it.
Thanks,
TR

From looking at brochures and e-mails, looks like a 1964.

With the white rub rail, it's a 1963.

Installing back to back lounge chairs in my Westfield. What distance do you recommend between steering wheel and seat.
Thanks

Just put them so you are comfortable drivivg.

Be sure to use well nuts and seal the old holes if needed. Don't want water to get under the floor and saturate the foam.

I've seen 1961-62s's all chrome die-cast, except for the black inside the area of the shark, and 1963s with blue along the bottom of the die-cast like yours, along with the black shark. My 1962 Edinboro has the former paint scheme.

1964s had a decal on the rear of the gunwale on each side, and 65-1970 had a plastic logo that looked like the earlier one, like on my 1966 Niagara. However, I've also seen a few 1964s with a die-cast logo from 1963. They may have had some left over to use up.

If it were me, I would just polish up the whole thing and redo the black inside the shark, like a 1961-1962. If a purist, redo the blue along the bottom, using something that matches closely.

Here is a good article on painting emblems

I used this paint, but used a dropper instead of brush.
Thanks Dave for the history on chrome emblems. I got mine off Ebay and always wondered when MFG used them

I can confirm some '64s had the die cast emblem as ours has been in the family since new and has them.

I agree. I have recently seen a couple of '64s that definitely had the die-cast emblem rather than the decal. Sure they were '64s as they had the newer style Sun 'n Fun seats. Go figure.

'65s went to a plastic version of the emblem.

As a follow-up, I've mostly completed my 1962 Edinboro restoration, with a few cosmetic things left to do. One is the MFG emblems. Even with polishing, they still are pitted and not as nice as I would like. So next year, they go off for re-chroming. For now, they are back on the boat as is. Ran out of money, so those, plus the steering wheel restoration, new canvas, and a new tach and voltmeter are for next year.
