Of course boating is a fair weather hobby as far as usage goes (for the most part), but besides working on restoration, you can also show your boat at boat shows in the winter. Usually sponsored by the local ACBS chapter, or some other similar group, there is often an "antique boat" display at winter shows.

I had my Niagara at the North Coast Ohio Chapter of ACBS display at the Mid-America Boat Show in Cleveland this past week. The little Niagara got almost as much attention as the others shown, including a beautiful 1956 Century Coronado and a great 1948 Chris Craft runabout. It was fun talking to folks who said they grew up with an MFG, and in some cases, still had it in the family.

Great way to make the winter go faster until spring comes.

Now, I just need to get the trailer painted.

Also shown is the Niagara page from the 1966 MFG full-line sales brochure, with the brochure pictures taken in late Summer, 1965 at Lake Chautauqua, NY, along with the board (on the easel) I showed with the boat.

Great fun - take a look:

Thanks!

Nice Sea Cruiser! Hope to get one of those some day - in blue and white, of course.

I was amazed. The local North Coast Ohio Chapter of ACBS asked me to show "Little Blue". The new local chapter president wanted a mix of boats, so besides mine and the two high-end wood boats, we had an outboard 13' Lyman, outboard 16' Lyman, and a little Wooster Hellion. So, out of the six, four outboards and two fiberglass. That would have been unheard of a few years ago, so yes, the times they are a changin'.

We're going to have an even bigger mix of boats at the Piston Power Show at the IX-Center in Cleveland March 20-22, 2015. ACBS and AOMCI will have side to side booths, and I plan to put "Little Blue" right in between the two, since I am a member of both.

Shows are a great winter activity!
