Hey Guys and Dr. Frankenmerc,
I am restoring a 1951 KG7 for a friend, the throttle linkage is missing and I am not quite sure what to make of it. It appears as though there was cable control for the throttle. The follower that would rub against the curved plate mounted on the main advance lever is not there, nor is there any accommodation for it. The handle is not the type used for the throttle, it unscrews to become a screwdriver. This is no racing motor, it has a standard lower end. Was a manual throttle used for these motors.

Got It. This is the same powerhead as a Mark 24, we robbed some parts, now we have a working throttle. I would still like to know why the throttle was separate from the advance?

if you take the piece off the carb (remove the screw} and replace with the correct piece it will work with the spark advance.
Yes they also used a remote hand throttle on them also with steering setup.

The KG-7 is set up for using a crash throttle on a hydroplane, etc.
The driver would reach back and manually advance the timing by pushing the throttle to port, then as the boat started to move, squeeze the crash throttle to open the carburetor.
I would love to have those two little pieces of crash throttle linkage if the owner is willing to part with them, so please write direct to me if that is a possibility.
