TOPIC: magneto shaft removal

magneto shaft removal 12 years 2 months ago #90458

hi, i am trying to replace the bearings on a magneto from a 1966 65hp. The problem i have is the bearing plate only moves about an 1/8 of an inch from the magneto frame when i tap on the shaft with my rubber mallet, is the something i am missing? Does it need to be pressed out?
thanks
