TOPIC: Need help for I D of a pre-1965 Mercury outboard

It is a "no neutral" inline 6.

dockbuster 60-61....

serial ## will determine the year.but 60-61 is correct.

Where is the serial number located on the engine?

There is a serial number on a black plate that is on the swivel housing top-front, between the thumbscrews used to secure the Merc to the transom.
There is also a serial number on the top of the block, between the flywheel and the cover the sparkplugs go through.
You will need to remove the top hat (rewind housing) to see this one.
This one is extremely small.
The serial number is (7) digits.
