TOPIC: Considering this one

Considering this one 10 years 11 months ago #86880

It's a long shaft, so I could use it on my boat. But it's only a 45. But it's also a rare appearance of a Merc nearby my location.
My wife will kill me (three months from now when she notices it in the basement....)

Lot of money for a paint job !!
On more than one occasion I have told people that I have looked at the motor internals and offer a one year warranty.--Paint work can be done by most folks that are a bit handy.----Paint means nothing to me !

Yea, looks like a nice rattle can paint job. Wonder what the motor is like.

Man, that was some sloppy paint work. Painted right over the hoses and everything. Overspray on half of it and under spray on the rest.

Getting the motor clean enough to paint is a LOT of work which this owner has not done. Im surprised the magneto is not currently cloud white.

I would rather see it how it was before and not have to strip paint to re-do it.

The last buyer backed out. That should tell you something.

Well it went for 200, which I would have been ok with it even with the sloppy paint job (that I would have had to undo - I hate sloppy paint), and the unknown condition (he had no idea when it last ran or if it ran). He claims it's not locked. I have hankerin' to build up a pair of matching long shaft 45's for a twin set up on my boat. My uncle had a 45 back in the day and I've always had a sweet spot for them.

Hear on the mid-atlantic these merc's don't come up often.

I've a back up plan to score it :-)
