When I moved a couple years ago I wrapped an extra cowl wrap I had for an early `60s 70hp with plastic wrap to protect during the move. While unpacking the cowl wrap I noticed the plastic wrap had melted the decal colors into a cream colored liquid. I recently picked up a '68 cowl off ebay to backdate a `86 Merc for the Whaler. It was packaged very well for shipping, however it was also wrapped with plastic wrap. When I removed the plastic wrap there was a pink liquid from the decals colors melting.

If it happens to you DO NOT try to clean the cowl wrap right away, it only removes more color from the decals. Let the cowl dry well first and clean.
