TOPIC: Another Merc on Saturday

Bringing this one home on Saturday. 650 Short. $100 for the package. The short mid is worth that. I think I just needed a Merc "fix"!!!!!!!
What is the boat guys and gals??

Hey Neil, Eduardo here. That boat is a '59 Reinell. It's actually the same boat as the one I got next to my friend's neighbor in Oregon, which I acquired as parts boat for the Reinell I got from you. I'm still looking for good Reinell emblems since they were missing on the hull. Only the dash was there. By the look of the design, it seemed like a mid 60s model, but our FG friend Bruce (Motorhead)found a Reinell ad with this same boat and surprisingly it's a '59.

Good score there on the motor, '68 or '69. But then again, you always find good deals.

Let me see if I can find some pictures of the boat.

I'd be interested in purchasing the Reinell emblems if you don't have plans for them. Thanks.

Thanks Eduardo. I will see what kind of shape the emblems are in and go from there. Hopefully they are what you need. How is your Reinell coming along?

Thanks Neil, I appreciate that. The Reinell is a slow process, but it's going. At least the center deck and the splashwell are in so now it looks like a complete boat unlike before. I've been working on another project since early this year. It's almost done; just need to get the motor bugs worked out. I'll keep in touch.

Here is what I got. The floor is shot. It was originally red and it looks like it was painted blue with a broom. But I got the 1969 650 shorty.

The 650 is the smallest powerhead Mercury put on that mid. So even if the powerhead is toast, that short mid has lots of other applications. The shorts are getting harder to find and for the price, this was a steal.
But, you folks know me. Just wipe it down and hang it in the museum:)

The cylinders are soaking and I will get a compression test this coming weekend.
I was mounting tires this past weekend and I had a bottle with Dawn soap and water on the bench. I sprayed the 650 with it and wiped it down, then just wiped it with a microfiber towel. It came out just like the pics show. It is a clean one for sure. With a little detail work, it will look even better.
I am junking the hull. The emblems are going to Calif. to go on a JetFlight.
I will keep the trailer.
