What's the best way to remove the old paint off my clamp assembly Sand, Glass, or Soda Blasting, Acid, Please just don't say by hand!

Aircraft-type paint stripper is strong enough to eat up the factory paint. The "orange" type or "environmentally friendly" stuff won't even touch it.

I expect the blasting methods would work as well, although only soda blast media would leave the metal untouched/smooth.

Depends on what type of finish you want to end up with.

I blast them with crushed glass.

Thanks for the advise, I'll acid wash the soft shroud. And blast the clamps. I want the best finish I can get on exposed part. Just rebuilt the transom and bilge area of my 76 Magnum. Mounting a 10" Jack Plate and wanted to spruce up the Merc 850. She's no Show compared to most found on this sight. But she's mine and a lots of fun if I can talk one of my kids to hang on to a tube behind her!
