I have a couple of the old kiekhaefer heavy cast iron engine stands and they are a bear to move around my shop.....anyone know a good way to put some wheels on these?

How about 3/4in plywood the shape of the stand with 3 angle iron strip to hold it fron shifting then add 2 strait caster wheels and 1 or 2 monvable caster wheels to steer.

Mercury made a roller assy that the stand would set in, but they're about as rare as hen's teeth!

I know the Good Dr. Frankenmerc has one for his stand, maybe he'll see this thread and post a pic! It might give you some good ideas for building a substitute.........ed

Not sure if this is like the stand you have, but the dolly is in the picture. Maybe it can give you an idea like ed_mc mentioned.

I like Dave's method but would use thin metal stap a 1/4" wider than the wood is thick, bend it and screw it to edges of wood every few inches making the joint centered on the stright part? Cut wood just outside your traced line. You'd have to make alot of cuts if using angle. Might want to think of 2"-2 1/2" wheels, those are teeny in the pic :)
