TOPIC: Green Tankers at Clayton Show

In an effort to help fill up the outboard tent a bit at last weekend's show at the Antique Boat Museum, I went with a green tanker Merc theme this year. Brought every one I had with the lower cowling. I've got a half dozen others missing the lowers, but for the show, I went with complete motors. Took home best original classic, under 20hp for the KG7 on the end!

Cool. I bought one of those at a garage sale 30 years ago just because it looked cool. It ran pretty well until I dropped the carburetor needle into the lake. It has been on a stand in the boat ever since.

What model do you have? Got a number from the carb? Pic of which part is missing? I might have a needle valve for you. Might be able to return your motor to the land of the living!

I'll take a look. It has this funky push button that releases a spring clutch in the lower unit that puts the motor in neutral.

It would be fun to get it going again, although I have nothing to use it on. Looks like I'll have to buy another boat. Oh darn.

Sounds like a mark 5 from the push button green tank.

And I happen to have a carb for one. It's missing the choke linkage, but otherwise complete. Let me know if interested.

OK, there's the aluminum setting knob. and there is the other needle. I'm missing the other long brass rod needle. Seriously it worked fine until I lost the needle. I tried using ones from car carbs I had but none of those ever worked. (I was young and stupid )

If you have just a needle, that would be great, otherwise, yes, I'd be interested the whole carb. If I have it, it might as well work.

Come to think of it, it might be a great auxiliary motor for my electric boat. A small self contained motor like that would be easy to use for that purpose.

I love how the choke is not a butterfly on these.
