I have some trouble with my 1965 Merc 1000. It was running fine but after 3 minutes water came into the lower 2 cilinders. I asume the exhaust plate is damaged inside the motor. One bolt seemed to be broken at one time and was replaced with glue???? Does anyone know if a complete "repair package" is available, and if so, were I can buy it from someone who is willing to sent to the Netherlands?

I also have a question about my 1971 Merc 1350. The lower carburator does not have a choke plate. Is this normal or is it missing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have the inner baffle and outer exhaust cover plate as well. As far as shipping who knows what would be best.
The bottom carbs did not have a choke flutter on them.
I would also replace the 2 lower crank shaft seals int he bottom end cap on the motor but also be sure (before you spend any money on parts) that the block is not cracked allowing water penetration.

Thanks for your response Jim! I will be more than happy to buy the parts from you { including the seals } if you have them. The power head is allready off so I hope to find time to check the motor on cracks during this week. I will keep you informed.
Thanks, Taco.

I removed the exhaust cover plate and inner baffle today and they both look very clean and visual undamaged. No cracks in the block I can find after intensive inspection. Tomorrow the baffle will be slightly sand blasted to see if there is a tiny leak. 2 bolts that hold the cover plate are broken. That may be the reason for water leaking through the cover. Is it possible that the cylinder head gasket is damaged so water is penetrating the lower 2 cylinders?

Taco.
