At the beach on vacation, but brought along my distrib pan and some tools to set the dwell and sync for my '63 1000 (perfect tinkering to fill some down time). Naturally I forgot the gapping tool, so to get started decided to check the existing set up using a degree wheel.
The first set of points is very close to perfect, closer than I'd be able to improve on me thinks. Set two though is closing (opening? I forget which) 6 or so degrees early. This I hope explains the crappy idle she had last season out. So I'll adjust those.
The question:
From new, I was not able to get this set to align just right. The two contacts are slightly off center of each other. See the photos (best I cold do with my phone). Is this misalignment enough to worry about? If so how do I adjust? I tried bending the one tab as instructed in the manual, but could not get it better than what you see.
