TOPIC: Busted Mercontrol (need advice!)

Hi All— While cruising around in my 1969 Glastron v142 SkiFlite (equipped with a 1967 Merc 500 50hp Thunderbolt Ignition), I pulled back on my controller and put it in neutral. At that point, it wouldn't shift any longer and my Mercontrol was jammed. All that to say, I completely busted my Mercontrol by man-handling it while identifying the problem with the engine (the shift cable came loose).

My question is: what is a decent/cheap compatible replacement for the MerControl? The Marine Shop is indicating that a new controller is upwards of $315, and I'd like to find a better price. Should I purchase a used Mercontrol or is it even worth it? Any help/advice is appreciated!

are you sure you are not having a shifting problem with the lower unit on your motor? That is what may be stuck.

That's what I originally thought as well, but the motor seems to be shifting fine by hand. I just busted the controller while figuring that out.
