i have a 1965 650 merc and i am installing a different prop #48-77340 and i need to know what thrust washer to use with this type prop

If you have the earlier squared shoulder propshaft that uses the long nosed thrust washer you will have to swap out the propshaft to the later model tapered shaft to install the newer style props, as they take a different thrust washer. The older style low rake props should fit the old thrust washer however, these have a step in the thrustwasher that fits the hub of the prop. Newer high rake props do not have the step.

You don't necessarily have to change the propshaft, there's a spacer that was made to fit against the square shoulder of the propshaft, and of the proper length for fitment of the newer flat-washer-type of thrust hub.

Can't remember the part number, maybe someone else does, or has a sample for measurement; it wouldn't be too difficult to make one out of the appropriate-strength material.
