TOPIC: 950

Got a question for verification. I am looking at a 950. East coast marine says only made two years, 66 and 67. 67 being the SS.
It is a long shaft with T/T. Guy does not know if it runs. Controls are there.
He is asking $250. It is 200 miles away and I have not seen it in the flesh.
Question is, even as a parts motor, is the price fair?
I have e-mailed him for more pics and the serial #.
I don't have a 950 for the "museum" yet!!

I picked up a 67 950 last weekend for $50 just for parts as it was a runner he wanted about $200 for but some one came to look at it and took all the covers off and broke all the bolts as well as stole some parts .... I got it for the lower and switch box, I'd think with PT&T and all the parts on it if good it be worth that to resurect others in the Museum if it is not a runner... With mine I figured for $50 if I was going out there I was bringing it home...

there is a messy one out here in Orange, MA with a 20 inch leg that the guy wanted $75 for it now down to $50. No pwr t&t whatsoever just standard tilt assist. If the motor was clean and running it could be worth $200 to $500 I suppose especially if the guy could demo it for your or show his maint. records for it. If it is like the one out here or like Jesses then $50 to $150. If the lower unit is in good order that is worth it.

Jim those would be the same engine, I was after some parts I needed, But earlier this fall it was listed for 175 or so and... more complete. I end up surfing Craigslist too much in the spare time.. I just was looking to take a ride on saturday and didnt know the powerhead had been so messed up. But the Lower unit seems fine and the prop was good as well as all the acessories so I figured it be a good parts unit... If any one needs any thing off the carcus let me know.

Next time I am out that far I surly will! Its a shame what some one did to that engine it wasnt too bad otherwise. May have been the Owner may not..
