Still need a 1961-62 Mercury 500 long shaft engine but nobody will sell me one. Don't make me sink my boat and take up golf.

Barnfinder has one which is now listed on CL in Rochester NY under Merc 500 is a 61 and appears to be a long shaft.Try sending a pm or contact through CL.

Naut,
Jim's 1960 400 long shaft is the exact same motor as a 1961 500 long shaft. Minus the decals faceplate and a small exhaust tuner. conrad |

OK, Jim...I'm sold on the idea but you're 1,000 miles away. However, just in case a way can be found to get it here without the need for a second mortgage, how much are you asking for the engine?

check with someone who can take truck delivery, even thou it will prob be still a couple 100 dollars to ship, and then you'll need to pick up.

I have a clean 500 long shaft. Bad side is I live in northern Nevada. I also have a 1960 400 45 hp I am restoring for myself.

OK so I know this has nothing to do with finding you a Merc 500 LS, but my uncle owned a circa 64 500 LS back in the day ---- and I have a line on where it might be. Of course, if I find it......not thinking I would part with it. But how cool would that be....
