The recoil on the 58AE was so gooped up with old grease and dirt it would not "recoil". I took it apart to clean and I see the spring is not attached to anything on the inside of it's housing. I am not a Merc person, (OMC) but have to learn. Is there a blow up of the recoil/parts that show how this baby goes back together.

thanks,
Cal

Cal,
I'm not aware of any good pictures of how to do it.
If you have all the pieces and know where they go, there is a tab on the large 'washer' that keeps the sping in place and the tab sticks up into the spring area.
The center end of the spring has sort of an open 'hook' that you get the tab to 'snag' as you re-assemble.
Item 17 in the parts break-down in this link is the large washer with a tab:

We'll watch for more from you as to whether or not this is all you needed.
