TOPIC: Decals Remove/Replace

Decals Remove/Replace 14 years 6 months ago #48012

I've decided to repaint the cowl wrap, which will mean removing and replacing the decals.

Is there a trick to removing the original decals such that I dont have to sand them off?

Anyone have a source for high quality decals?

Not sure what to tell you. Seems mine came off easy, or maybe I sued acetone or goo remover or something.

Most folks get decals here: www.nymarine.ca/mercdeclist.html

Good luck!

I used my heat gun to remove what was remaining of the decals on our 115 tower and removed any adhesive residue with acetone. Prior to removing the decals I took my hood in to a local sign shop that replicated them for $34.00. They even printed off an extra set for me. They look nearly identical to the originals and if I should need another set for any reason they have everything on file and can print off another set or any portion that needs replacing

I used a heat gun with mine also. It worked good and I finished up with paint remover and that took care of the glue and most of the paint. It turned out great. I got my stickers from nymarine and I couldn't tell the difference from the originals. They were easy to apply and after the first year they still look great.
