I'm a neophite on Mercs so help me out here. I have a '59 Mark 58AE that is laying under my workbench waiting to go on a flying fish that I am reworking. I also have a nice chrome single lever Morse shifter/throttle that I scavenged from a Evinrude Starflight 75hp. Would the shifter work on the Mark if the ends were modified to fit?
Right now I don't even know if the Merc runs, took it off the boat without running it, just turned it over with the rope.
Thanks
Cal

you will need to check to see if when you put the shifter forward the cable is pulled in the correct direction so that the motor goes into forward and the same for throttle. Simple check to do but i am 99% sure the throttle is pushed on an omc. whatever the case something is opposite so check it. Other wise cables are cables and ends can be swapped.
