You could easily part it out if it ever came to that. You could never lose on that one.Ron G

That is a short shaft 650 with an extension kit installed to make it a 20".
Sure is nice looking!
One thing to ask if interested in returning it to a shorty is whether or not it has a long shaft lower unit with a long drive shaft - or - if it has a shorty driveshaft with the 5" stub shaft on it.

My 650 is a '69 and is a short shaft with the 5" extension. My driveshaft is a short shaft with the 5" extension.Actually my lower unit part number makes it a 1500 lower unit and as it turns out has the 2:1 gear ratio which explains why it was a little doggy out of the hole.I am running a 19" prop on it but I am rebuilding it with the proper 2:3.1 ratio which should liven it up a bit on the low end.Ron G

In the '65 and prior manual, it is 2:1 for a 650 and most of the larger motors? Think you want a 90ci. dont expect miracles from a 650. One of the best motors but is what it is. My g3 with a 19p takes off like a bullet if altitude and temps are correct. I used a 15p for water skiing and plan on getting a 17p for all around use, might get cupped?

I have several props for my engine acquired back when they were still made of aluminum instead of gold.
I am going from memory here but in addition to my bronze 19" two blade I have a 19",a 17" and a 13" aluminum 3 blade prop so I am pretty well covered for props with this engine. My Jetflite has the deep V Glastron hull and I can live with the holeshot because it handles so well in a chop.I will probably never use the 13" prop but I have it if I ever need it.I never had a tach before but now I have one so I will know where I am running now with each prop.Ron G
