TOPIC: new short stack

just got my new (to me) 1961 merc 50hp short shaft. going to put it on my 1961 fleetform. now to find a 1961 classic trailer to put under it. still working on my crestliner, so hope i can get to this next spring.

hi mark, no i just got it home sat nite and hung it on the stand. we have our grandson till tuesday, and he is a hand full,(2 years old) so later this week i'll check it out. since dave b. tought me about mags i don't have to worry about spark. comp felt good by the starter rope, but the gauge will let me know. the block is still sealed. i'll need to find a 2 blade bronze prop and cone, and would like a 2 stick control for it. my 1966 50 hp that you helped me with is running sweet, just have to replace the impeller, and finish the boat. frog

was out in the shop sat. and was looking at the merc, took comp readings and were real even at 115 to 118. so i got out the water barrel and hose hooked up a fuel tank and started to pull, after 6 or so yanks it was running. sweet, maybe i'll have to keep it, i to;d the wife i would thin down my boats and motors so i can get a new john deere compact tractor, this one may get hidden. lol frog

Hey since you guys were talking bout fleetforms a little while ago i was wondering if there is anyway for me to tell what year mine is I can't find a sn anywhere on the boat. Red 2 tone 16' no splashguard 60 hp flying scot 3 cylinder 2 stroke mcolugh engine.has the fins of the 50's but thats it. I don't know anything about this boat and any info that you guys know would be great!! i'm working on restoring this boat by the way.

chance, post some pic's of your boat. mine is a 14 ft comadore, i think the 16 footers did not have the barrel transom. frog
