Just kidding.
Picked up this tall tophat Mariner last weekend for a project motor.
I have a rebuilt powerhead in the crate to swap into her.
PTT works great. She's got a few cosmetic issues but overall is ok as she'll run in saltwater most of the time.
These things are sure easy to work on.

Could you send me the S/N from this motor? Also if you know, is it a 115 or a 90? Do you know year? I am looking for a few lower unit items and this has the same lower I have. Best ot track by SN just in case.
Thanks,
Randy

a954868, 1986, does not have the square hi lift fuel pump like the 87/88 had for use with the autoblend. 115hp propshaft rated.

Yes, I was talking with Frankenmerc yesterday as we've seen some of the brown stripes with either two ram ptt or the integral ptt.
These late adi with integral ptt are my fave.

Thanks for the SN info! Strangley I am having trouble getting the correct lower waterpump housing. It is VERY close to the one used on the XR-4 V-6 but ever so slightly different (.030" shorter) in the height of the seal boss that has the O-ring, also O-ring groove is narrower. I am surprised Merc would make lower W.P. housings so similar yet not interchangeable. The only visual difference is the size of the drain hole for the seal area. The inline has a smaller dia drain hole.
Merc dealer brought out all the lower W.P. housings they had in stock, only the XR-4 was close but still it was different. I needed that serial number to chase down the right base so, thanks a lot.

Can anyone tell me why the top hat? Was it just a cosmetic thing that was done with the Mariner branding?
