Two things come to mind immediately Frog

1 - I've had so much trouble getting housings to slide down over impellers lately, I've started greasing the inside of the cup (housing) and inserting the impeller into the cup first. Then sliding the assembly over the d/s, and lining up the keyway. If it gives you a fit, keep that trick in mind.

2 - Don't over tighten the bolts holding the housing down to the plate. Get your manual out and torque them to specs. (I always use a little thread sealer or lock tite on those threads, 'cause I'm anal worrying about stuff like that coming loose.)
