OK Guys,
Surely this is a very simple thing... But it just doesn't look right to me. At first, I set it up according to the photo out of my manual. THEN I read the note for my 80 horse 4 banger.

So I moved the steering rod underneath, and added a washer. Still doesn't look right.
The ball joint has a flat surface on it. Which way should it face? Should I delete the washer also? Does the ball joint bolt up against the threaded hole of the steering arm without a washer or spacer?

Such a simple thing. I gotta be missing something. or just plain not seeing it.

That will work, but generally, the flat surface of a rod end should be toward the washer.

Good luck!
