just a couple of questons. i have a 1966 merc 500 ser #2108376. and was wondering what is the correct spark plug for it? it has 4jc champions in it now , i went to the parts store and they looked it up and came up with a different plug. and what should the gas /oil ratio be mixed to? i am mixing 40:1 , just testing the motor. but i can not find any lable and i do not have a merc tank, just a plastic walmart special. thanks. frog

50-1 but i also use 40-1 j4c or j6c is fine original was j6j

thanks dave, your a big help. and after the lesson on checking out the mag on my motor they do'nt scare me anymore. i'am learning alot working on this merc and it is getting to be fun. frog
