TOPIC: Weight of mercs

Weight of mercs 13 years 4 months ago #38810

Where can I find weights of various mercs? Like how does my '63 merc1000 compare to a '75 1500 or a '78 1500XS? All would be standard shaft.

Thanks for any help.

I think my motor weighs in at about 265, so that would mean those 1500's would weigh in about 300. That's cool, shouldn't be a problem then. It would be less additional weight than another 6 gallon gas tank...

I had somebody tell me they weighed a LOT more than my '63, and I just didn't believe the guy.

Thanks!

Yep I think a 1500 is roughly 300lbs. A short shaft without trim may be 275.

265 sounds about right for a 63 1000.

NADA has Mercury outboards going back to 77. It lists the dry weight of all the models. The 1500 is exactly 300lbs with PT&T. It shows the 78 1500XS at 290lbs without PT&T.
