May be a complete nuts question...

I have a 40 HP Classic fifty from 86, it runs great BUT its a long shaft..!!

Today i was given a Merc 200 thunderbolt that is seized, but that one is short shaft..

I dont have the 200 in house yet, so i cant compare those 2 engines.

but my question is.. Can the powerhead from the 40 HP fit the leg from the 20 Hp ??

Ha ha.. now i got the engine in house, i can clearly see why its not possible.. its half the size of the other

Well.. found out that the only reason it was stuck was because one of the cylinders were filled with Oil ?!?

Cleaned it out, and it started right up... So believe free was a good price after all.

Got a remote and a big box of parts with it.
