i installed this tach a few years ago. it moves up to 5000 fine but won't drop below 1600. it use to drop all the way down. is there an adjustment on these or should i buy a new tach. ron

funny thing...i turned the key on the other day and the tach needle dropped to 0. when i turned the key off it stayed there. so i guess its ok. will find out in 10 days when i take the boat out. ron

ron remember when i said 2 contacts on the back of the tach were touching before i rewired it,maybe i got lucky and that was the problem,probably not though ,lol,lol,john

My newer tach always looks like that until the key is turned on. Then it resets itself at 0 until the motor is running.

Most all modern tachometers have electro magnets, so this would be a normal occurance.
