Found this little guy at a second hand store.
Made by Mercury right?
Cute little shaver. :)

Didn't the Gamble stores sell them? Yes made by Mercury.
Yours is a nice one. The 25 Wizard is a nice collectible too. I think Scott provided some outboards with the Wizard name too, later.

It says Western Auto Supply Co. on the face decal.
How collectable?
The price on this one is $200.

Yes I stand corrected. It was Western Auto. Not Gambles

My reply was'nt aimed at correcting you, I'm sorry if it read that way. I had never heard of Western Auto Supply, I thought that maybe it could have been Gambles or a part of.
Again, my apologies.
I am relatively new to outboards and I am trying to learn all I can.
I thought that this was a cute little guy and wanted to share.

Re:Wizard Super 10 14 years 1 week ago #19584

How valuable?,...Beauty lies in the eys of the beholder.
I was given one this summer.
I peeked inside before hanging it on a rack until I have time to get really curious, but I 'think' what I saw inside was a Hurricane with a fuel pump & Phelon magneto (don't quote me on the Phelon - I might have just been wishing it was a Phelon and not a B-Sintilla).
So basically a Mark 25 powerhead on a KG-7 mid and gear case.
Can anybody agree or disagree with my glance???
Mine is rattle-can black.

With a little description on your part on what to look for I can go back to it and get a better look. Or take pics with the lid off.
I really don't have a use for it except for it is an old Merc. Although it would look sweet in my "man cave".
But if someone here is looking for one of these, I can certainly pick it up and ship it.
Myself, I am looking for a white short shaft Tower for my Hydrocraft. In my eyes those are a beautiful motor. If memory serves, you have a number of Towers.
When I finally find mine, I will need your help for sure.

Re:Wizard Super 10 14 years 1 week ago #19593

Neil,
I will try and take a closer look tomorrow as that will be the last day I will be able to for a while.
I'll try and take pixs too.
You're sure right about me being surrounded by more than my share of short shaft Stacks.
I have (12) assembled Stack06 shorties (just a guess - probably forgot a few)and more than a few more in parts.
I will certainly help you in any way I can.
That Hydrocraft looks kinda like an Anthony Jet-Star from what I can see of it.

Is the Jet Star one of yours?
Where did you get so many Towers?
Are you a Merc mechanic/dealer, or just a hobby?
I am chomping at the bit to get my first one.
I have found a couple, but nothing has come about on them.
I have a shot at a running 115 Blue stripe long shaft on a Tri hull with trailer for $400. Just gotta go pay the guy and haul it home. Then I have to get rid of a hull and trailer.
Kinda hesitating because I just know as soon as I get it, I will find my white short shaft.
Do you have a white short you would part with?

One like this would do the trick. When I find my base motor, this is my goal for the end result.
Yea I could buy one done or have one done but what would that teach me. I wanna do it myself.

Re:Wizard Super 10 14 years 1 week ago #19596

Neil,
The Anthony is owned by a friend.
I did bust a few knuckles back in the early '60s at the local Merc dealer, but today I'm just a hobbyist and I have been snagging the shorty white and black Stack-6s for quite a while now.
I just got them all gathered up recently after my parents passed and I needed to get a lot of them out of the family homestead and over to my home.
Yes, I have several Cloud White Stack-6 shorties I would sell.
Assembled and running sweet and 'build your own specials' if you are interested in building your own.
I'm located in the state of Washington and suspect that shipping would kill most deals if you're too far away.
Write direct so we can discuss HP & models you desire.
The 800FGS shorty in the attached pictures has power trim, is fully rebuilt in the powerhead, and has been converted to solid state ignition. Everything is always for sale.

When I read your post and saw the picture, I fell out of my chair and bumped my head :) I just now came too!!!!!
I live in central Idaho, near Lewiston/Clarkson.
That means that anywhere in Washington is close when it comes to a white stack.
I will be e-mailing you soon.
Looks like you just gained a customer.
Christmas in November for Neil, what a good post starting with a Wizard. Life is good. :)
Sorry, I am just really excited.

There's some identification information, including model number/year and Mercury model number cross-reference available at Jason Baxter's Wizard Outboard Motor Site:

I collect the small Mercs and Wizards made by Mercury. The Super 10 is a great motor. I'd pay $100 for that motor, but $200 seems pretty high.

I just bought a 1950 Wiz 10 this past Oct for 75 bucks in non-running, barn fresh nice looking condition. Can't wait to find out how fast it flies my 12' Starcraft rowboat rated for 10 hp.

Re:Wizard Super 10 13 years 10 months ago #22117

The Super 10 Wizzie is a sleeved down, closed up version of the Merc Super 10 Hurricane (KG7). The KG7 is about 20 cubic inches, while the Wizzie is about 18. The KG7 has eight reed valves (four per cylinder), while the Wizzie has four (two per). The Wizzie is still a good performer and if you're good with a wrench you can open up the breathing by installing an 8-petal reed cage and opening the crankcase opening to accomodate an AJ-32A carb. Still not as strong as the KG7, but you will notice a bit more kick...

$150 isn't too bad for one in very nice shape. Expect to put a couple hundred more into it in waterpump, carb kit, ignition bits, etc.

That motor appears to be a WN7A, which is based on a Mark 25 and is 20 CID. It might even have a 20H crankshaft in it. Somebody better get over there and save this one. B)

Well guys, sounds like this may be a motor to add to a collection.
I am currently building a 64 1000, so the $150 needs to go toward that motor. I really have no need for this little Wizard except to say that I have it.
Although if some one is interested I could grab it for them.
I am not looking to make a buck here, just thought if someone wanted it I could pick it up and ship it to them.
