Wow,...But understandable in this day and age.
Beautiful pictures of the related waterways.

Thanks Doc,

We are cruising on the Chicago River again at the end of August.

Hey All,

It finally stopped raining here and we got Mama Mia! back on the water.

John Mc’s cable and gas connectors worked perfectly.

Yesterday occasionally she was struggling big time coming out of the hole but once on plane cruised nicely.
Never experienced that before so what changed?
It came to me as I laid down to sleep last night. And I know I learned it here.

Marked the prop this morning and sure enough the bushing is shot.

Was still using the original 2 blade 17 pitch bronze prop. I have another aluminum 2 blade 19 off a 1964 65 hp. Headed down to the river now to swap them out.

Norge Ski Jump

Berserk Norwegians from Chicago going for big air.

World Class meets are still held here annually. Fun stuff and the colder the better.

Thanks,
Terry

Hello old merc folks,

Have a sizeable leak on one of the hydraulic cylinders. Anyone have any experience in repairs?

Thanks,
Terry

Im in the process now that I have an engine in resseructing my old boat (1959 Shell Lake) and am running the 2 lever control box with the same cables. Last time I had her running (before the hurricane took her) I had had some problems with the cables and gears. If memory serves I simply cut new gears out of aluminum and modified new merc cables. I should be able to get pictures and when I open it up Ill remember what I did. I noticed the cables were starting to explode (hurricane) so they will be needing replacement. As for power I "think" I scored and got a 1978 1500sx powerhead as part of something that was put together over the years. My intention is to redo it to make it appear to be an earlier 800 to better match the period of the boat.
