My dad got this with a rotted old Dunphy yesterday. Fortunately, it was stored indoors, unlike the poor boat.
It is very clean, and we are told that it runs very well. I will try to get more information, but had limited access to it yesterday.
We are told it is a 50hp that was built up to 57hp?

The 58A is a 1959 model, 45 Hp, 44 cubic inches. The 1958 Mark58 was the first year of production of the 44 cubers, essentially a 40 cuber with a larger bore.

Should you wish to part with it I would be interested. Is it missing the lower unit?

Those are great little motors. I grew up with one on our family boat. My dad bought it new and we put a lot of hours on it every weekend during the summer. It ran great until it threw a rod through the side of the block with about a million hours on it. There are a lot of them around and parts are very available. Good luck with it.

It looks to be a long shaft.
If I remember correctly, it is a bit longer than todays 20" longshafts.

What points does one use to measure the length? I have to reinstall the lower unit yet too...
