I have 2 Mercury 850s..or maybe a 85 and a 70 lol...

One serial# is 5007838 (which

i think is possibly a 70hp not a 85)
the other SERIAL # 4235806....

The 75 merc 85 has a bad distributor....has an aftermarker CDI switchbox..
The other one 70 or 85hp one ran when pulled but I was told it had 90 psi in to of the cyclinders....

I have heard of people swaping ignition systems around and am thinking about doing so since I have both complete motors....

If anyone on here can answer for me please do.....i figure the left over parts can be sold, saved or scrap'd.....

the only thing i have done was checked spark on the one and looks like the distributor went bad....

Well looks like i don't have to worry about this anymore..

The other night I cleaned the femaile plug that goes to the motor and sprayed some of the cleaner into the ignition switch..
I ran compression test (140psi on all 4).....
after that i figures WTH i tried spark again...

BAM! bright blue strong spark on for wires....thinking the cleaner cleaned something....
